The unidentified woman was hit by the train at 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning, just a short time after an Uber driver dropped her off at a nearby Amtrak station. A spokesperson for Union Pacific told The Press Enterprise that during the drive, the woman told the driver she was feeling suicidal. Once at the station, the driver helped her find a train schedule and left, according to the spokesperson.
The driver then called police, who arrived to the scene, but after the woman had already been hit by the train.
The incident is under investigation.
