Enrique Marquez, a neighbor and friend of one of the San Bernardino shooters, was charged in connection with the terror attack Thursday.
Enrique Marquez, the former neighbor and friend of San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook, has been charged with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, the unlawful purchase of two assault rifles and defrauding immigration authorities.
Marquez, 24, purchased two of the assault-style rifles used by Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik. FBI officials believe Farook asked Marquez to buy the two weapons in late 2011 or early 2012.
KTLA has posted the criminal complaint here. In it are claims that Marquez and Farook discussed attacking Riverside Community College and the 91 freeway with firearms and explosives in 2011 (warning: the details of the plans or horrifying). There are also details from investigators of the “sham marriage” that Marquez entered into with a Russian woman for $200 a month.
The complaint states that Marquez called 911 to report that it was his weapons used in the attacks, telling the operator, “The fucking asshole used my gun in the shooting.” Marquez would later enter a hospital that evening after having 9 beers because he was upset, according to the complaint.
Marquez’s Facebook profile included a post just hours after the attack that read, “I’m. Very sorry sguys. It was a pleasure.”
14 people lost their lives and 21 more were injured in the terror attack at the Inland Regional Center.
