A 39-year-old man is dead after being struck by a car in Desert Hot Springs Friday night.

Authorities responded to a call on Palm Drive where Desert Hot Springs resident Jose Ramos had been struck by a car, reports KESQ. Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just arrived on the scene of a fatal car versus pedestrian accident in Desert Hot Springs on Palm just south of Hacienda. The driver is cooperating with police. More details to come.

Police believe that Ramos was jay walking and that the driver did not appear to have been speeding or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
