A seven-hour standoff in Palm Springs ended just before midnight Friday with a Colorado man turning himself in to police.

Police arrived at a residence on Skylar Lane after 5 p.m. after receiving a tip that Michael Farrow, 29, was there, reports KESQ. Farrow has an outstanding felony warrant for attempted murder in Colorado.

The home was quickly surrounded by police and members of the Desert Regional SWAT Team as Farrow barricaded himself inside the residence.

A portion of the neighborhood was blocked off and the residents in two neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, according to The Desert Sun. Other residents nearby were asked to remain in their homes.

Just before midnight Farrow surrendered without incident. He was taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

“SWAT team responded, initiated contact began negotiations with the suspect which were very prolonged via text messaging, the individual was reluctant to come out, paranoid. And eventually the negotiations were successful and the suspect surrendered peacefully and we took him into custody,” said Lt. Mike Kovaleff with the Palm Springs Police Department.
