When was the last time you went out of your way for the person you love?

A Canadian man drove over 800 miles to pick up some Kentucky Fried Chicken for his wife to celebrate their anniversary. Yes, you read that correctly.

Mike Johnston and his wife feasted on the Colonel’s secret recipe with 11 herbs and spices on their wedding day 14 years ago. They even served it to their guests – which, honestly, after having so much crummy pasta and terrible wedding buffets, I would be down for some KFC at a wedding.

Since then, the Johnston’s have grabbed a bucket every year on their anniversary. But, this became a bit of an issue this year, as their local KFC shut down and Johnston was forced to go to the next closest spot in Yellowknife, Canada – 435 miles away.

“This year was the most difficult one to plan,” Johnston’s wife Angela Hovak told the CBC. “But my husband didn’t hesitate.”

The trip cost Johnston over $600 in gas and chicken, but Johnston is not complaining.

“[It was] worth every penny. We have to keep traditions alive,” he said. “Fifteen years. Why stop now?”
