It’s almost here! Desert Trip begins on Friday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. As music fans enjoy 3 days of the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, the Who, Roger Waters, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young, concert promoters may be too busy counting money to enjoy it themselves.

Goldenvoice President Paul Tollett, 50, told The Desert Sun in an exclusive interview that industry projections of the two-weekend box office gross of $150 million are “in the ballpark” for Indio’s long-desired fall festival. That would break the all-time record gross of $84.2 million set in 2015 by Goldenvoice’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, according to recent figures made available by industry publications Billboard and Pollstar.
Tollett had previously told the New York Times the fest could bring in as much as $160 million in July – at which time he was still not even sure the show would be profitable.
That’s because the acts are getting paid handsomely – with each taking home $7 million for each weekend – and it seems like promoters spent a whole lot of money to make sure everyone has an amazing pooping experience.
