Anza residents voted in record numbers

Kimbrelin Brown Pelzer’s strategy of spending a great deal of time in the small mountain community of Anza seemed to work as voters of the town came to the polls in record numbers in 2018.

“There were never no voters in the building,” Election Poll Inspector Donna Bradley told Valley News. “Steady as a rock all day. It was the best turnout Anza has ever had.”

In total, there were 388 regular ballots cast, 142 provisional ballots and 289 mail-in ballots delivered to the polling place, bringing the total Anza vote count to 819 total ballots cast.

No word on how many of those 819 ballots were cast for Brown Pelzer, who lost the popular vote to Raul Ruiz by over 13,000 votes.
