Palm Springs PD ‘Gun Buyback’ nets 128 firearms, including 2 assault rifles

The Palm Springs Police Department released the results of their Gun Buyback event that took place two weeks ago with 128 firearms being traded in for gift cards, including two that are categorized as assault weapons.

Here is the breakdown of what was turned in, according to the Palm Springs PD:

  • Pistols: 41
  • Shotguns: 29
  • Rifles: 58

The department says that some of those turning in their firearms said that the guns belonged to family members who have passed away.  Others stated that that firearm was just “lying in the house and they wanted to dispose of it.”
