Wilma and Frieda’s Cafe

This El Paseo spot is so good, Guy Fieri chose it to be part of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.   You won’t find much happening on El Paseo before noon most days, but this place, located on the second story of The Gardens, usually has a nice crowd enjoying things like meatloaf and eggs, a short rib scramble with mozzarella, and a 6 oz. steak and eggs.

El Paseo Grill

This spot may be a bit tough to find as it is located in a strip mall mostly hidden from Highway 111, but when you do find it (hint: it’s near the Starbucks at Highway 74 and 111), you will be treated to not only some of the best breakfast in Palm Desert, but some of the best in the entire Coachella Valley.  It’s a small place with a limited staff, so expect to walk up and order and to grab your own coffee – but that’s fine, because the folks in the kitchen are busy cooking up breakfast burritos, eggs and bacon, a Belgian waffle, and more.

Undoubtedly, the hardest of all ten of these restaurants to find – as it’s hidden amongst dozens of auto body shops and smog joints in an industrial area off of Cook Street. But hey, these days, just plug the address into your GPS and let Siri guide you to The Lunch Box for some great, quick breakfast in Palm Desert.  The Lunch Box serves up “scrams” starting at 7 am: 2 scrambled eggs, jack cheese, and ham, turkey, or bacon served between two slices of bread, in a tortilla, or in a bowl – and for just five bucks!
