California surgeon and girlfriend accused of raping 2 women

A Newport Beach surgeon, who appeared on a Bravo reality show “Online Dating Rituals of the American Male,” and his girlfriend have been charged by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office with raping two women through the use of drugs.

Prosecutors say that Grant William Robicheaux and Cerissa Laura Riley met a woman at a Newport Beach bar in April 2016, according to KTLA. They invited the woman to party on a boat. Once the woman was intoxicated, prosecutors say they took the woman to Robicheaux’s apartment, gave her multiple drugs, then raped and orally copulated with her while she was too intoxicated to resist. The woman contacted the Newport Beach Police Department the next day.

A similar incident occurred in October of 2016, according to investigators, who say that Robicheaux and Riley met another woman at a Newport Beach bar, drank with her “until the victims was no longer conscious,” then brought her back to Robicheaux’s apartment and sexually assaulted her until she woke up and screamed for help. Police were called by a neighbor.

A Newport Beach spokeswoman said there wasn’t initially enough evidence to support an arrest in 2016, but detectives stayed focused on the case until they received the search warrant in January and turned the case over to the DA’s Office earlier this month.

Robicheaux’s apartment was searched in January, 2018, notes The Mercury News. Authorities say they found “large quantities of illegal drugs” including ecstasy, date-rape drugs and cocaine. They also found hundreds of videos of what appears to be intoxicated women believed to have been filmed by Robicheaux and Riley.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims in Orange County and beyond as People notes that the couple has attended music festivals together including Burning Man, Dirty Bird Campout and Splash House in Palm Springs.

On Sept. 11, Robicheaux was charged with rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, assault with intent to commit sexual offense, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of an assault weapon.

Riley was charged with the same felony counts as Robicheaux, with the exception of possession of an assault weapon.
