A 27-year-old Cathedral City man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of punching his wife in the face several times before she was able to escape their apartment.
Police were called about 2:30 am. They interviewed the victim at an AM/PM, where she told them she had fled the residence on Avenida El Pueblo following the attack. She told officers that her husband had punched her in the face multiple times with her children present, according to City News Service (via KESQ).
The suspect was not at the apartment when deputies arrived. The children were not harmed in the incident, say police.
About three hours later, Joel Flores was arrested about five miles away from the house. He was booked on suspicion of false imprisonment, assault on a person with great bodily injury, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse and criminal threats.
