The 23-year-old man accused of arson in a fire at a Coachella mosque pleaded guilty on Thursday to an arson charge.
Carl James Dial, of Desert Shores, changed his plea on Thursday, reports the Press Enterprise. In addition to arson, Dial pleaded guilty to maliciously setting a fire and a hate crime. He now faces up to six years in prison.
Sentencing will take place February 29th in Riverside County Superior Court in Indio.
The fire occurred at Islamic Society of the Coachella Valley’s mosque on Avenue 49 in Coachella on Dec. 11, just a little over a week after the San Bernardino terrorist attack.
