Because the world is full of too many assholes who refuse to let us have nice things, metal thieves are running rampant around The Coachella Valley. Things have gotten so bad that The Coachella Valley Water District tells KESQ that it has been a record breaking year for thefts of backflows…
They say in the past year, the water district has had more than 500 backflows stolen. This weekend alone, they had a dozen cases reported.
The thieves are believed to get about $50 for some scrap metal, but it costs The Coachella Valley Water District $1,400 every time they must replace the stolen pipes.
The water district told KESQ that homeowners and businesses should report suspicious activity and “to try and be vigilant”.
