If you don’t have anywhere to be Friday in the Coachella Valley, you may just want to stay in as between big crowds are in town for the holiday weekend and Modernism Week and that whole matter of tons of roads being closed after being flooded out on Thursday.
The screenshot above shows Highway 111 through Palm Desert and Indian Wells being a slow crawl as of 2 pm Friday – thanks, in part, to Fred Waring being closed at Cook Street. And that’s not the only spot causing issues.
If you're driving out to Palm Springs area… be ready for some major traffic… 1hr trip turned to 3hrs. Fml

Nightmare traffic to get to Palm Springs with all the road closures due to yesterday’s rain @ModernismWeek

Took me 30 min just from cats to Palm Springs. Fuck this traffic, I’m taking my hot wheels bicycle out

If you do have to head out, KESQ is tracking the road closures here and, should you be smart, stay in, and just order through Postmates or InstantCart – but be sure to tip a little more, since they had to sit in traffic and traffic sucks.
