Two Palm Springs hotels were named as the best in the country by travelers using TripAdvisor.
The company released its 17th annual Travellers Choice Awards this week which is based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected during the last year from travelers worldwide. TripAdvisor than ranks hotels and resorts in different categories.
In the category of Top 25 Small Hotels in the World, the top ranking spot in the United States in Desert Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs. The second ranking small hotel in the country was La Maison Hotel, also located in the Coachella Valley city.

One reviewer said of Desert Riviera, “From the great layout to the spotless rooms, lovely pool (available 24 hours) and the most helpful staff, this hotel has everything most large chain hotels will never have.”
Desert Riviera Hotel has a perfect 5.0 average after over 2,000 reviews on TripAdvisor. The spot offers pretty nice mountain views and garden surroundings along with bikes for hotel guests to borrow, a poolside BBQ, a DVD library available to guests, available golf clubs, a continental breakfast, and pizza.
At this time of this posting, rooms at the hotel were available on TripAdvisor for $374 per night.
Overall, Desert Riviera ranked #19 in the word for Small Hotels and also made the list of Top Hotels for Romance in the world.
Coming in just behind Desert Riviera was La Maison Hotel – which ranked #23 on the list and the only other hotel in the country to appear on the list.
La Maison, located not too far from Desert Riviera along East Palm Canyon offers guests complimentary handcrafted cappuccinos and lattes, more of those awesome mountain views, a pool and walled garden, bikes, and, perhaps best of all, no resort fees.
TripAdvisor showed no rooms available anytime soon at La Maison, but their website showed availability for this weekend, with prices starting at $478 for two nights.
The top 3 spots on the small hotel list went to Anastasia Apartments in Imerovigli, Greece; The Diplomat in Merida, Mexico, and Kokkini Porta Rossa in Rhodes Town, Greece.
TripAdvisor segments the list by region and, of course, Desert Riviera and La Maison rank as the top two in the list of Top Small Hotels in the United States.
The only other California hotel appearing on the list is Enchante Boutique Hotel in Los Altos.
