After a summer filled with pro-gun protestors outside City Hall and newly installed metal detectors that totally had nothing to do with all of those pro-gun protestors, the Palm Springs City Council is set to vote on a set of proposed gun safety measures on Wednesday. Those in favor of the laws say they could save lives. Those opposed say it is government overreach and you will probably want to at least look like you are listening to what they are saying since they are most likely heavily armed with stolen guns that were never reported as such by their legal owners.
The measures to be voted on would require a gun owner to report their weapon missing or stolen within 48 hours. The new laws would also require a concealed carry permit to store guns and ammo in the car and lock up firearms around the house. But, as Councilman Geoff Kors tells the Desert Sun, this does not mean all guns at all times:
(Kors) added that people would still be able to keep a gun on their bedside table at night — the ordinance requiring guns to be locked away or have the trigger disabled at home only applies when they’re not in the immediate vicinity of the owner.
So yeah, you need not worry, Palm Springs residents. You can still walk around your house all day carrying your rifle before making out with it and telling it how much you love it before falling to sleep spooning it every night – the way the Founding Fathers intended you to do.
