Palm Springs, a city which holds off year elections even though they almost always produce lower voter turnout, has two council seats up for grabs in 2017. While incumbents, Ginny Foat and Chris Mills have not announced if they will run for reelection, plenty of others have thrown their hat into the ring.
The Desert Sun profiles seven residents who said they intend to run for one of the two seats. SEVEN! And the official nominating period does not even start until July meaning we will probably see even more Palm Springs residents enter the contest. Maybe even you! Seriously, though. It only takes 80 signatures!!
It’s almost like everyone in the city just seems to be tired of the people who are currently in charge of a city that seems to want to look the other way when it comes to corruption, insane salaries, and terrible management.
