A memorial service for two Palm Springs police officers fatally shot while on duty will take place today in Palm Springs.
The service for officers Jose “Gil” Vega and Lesley Zerebny begins at 11 a.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
The funeral is expected to be attended by as many as 20,000 people, according to the Desert Sun – including California Governor Jerry Brown, Attorney General Kamala Harris, and dozens of law enforcement officers from the Coachella Valley and throughout the U.S.
The service will begin at 11 am and is open to the public.
Roads around the Convention Center will be closed including Alejo Road, Hermosa Drive, Tahquitz Canyon Way and Calle Encilia — from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Parking for the public will be in the Palm Springs Mall parking lot on E. Tahquitz Canyon Drive. Shuttles will begin taking people to the convention center at 9 a.m.
