The Palm Springs Police Department has released the results of a DUI /D river’s License Checkpoint that was held on Saturday night between 9:45 pm and 2 am.
The checkpoint was conducted at the 1100 block of E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, according to the department. During this period, 285 vehicles went through the checkpoint, resulting in the follow arrests / citations:
- One driver was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
- Two drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed.
- Two addition citations were issued. Police did not give information on what those two citations were for.
The Palm Springs Police Department aims to hold DUI Checkpoints at locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests. Last year the Palm Springs Police Department investigated 93 DUI collisions that killed 10 people and injured 71 others.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
