An Indio Police Department officer was recently arrested after he allegedly raped a woman.
Sergio Ramirez is accused of rape by force, sex penetration by force and oral copulation by force, reports KESQ. Ramirez was arrested by Palm Desert Police on August 31, according to KMIR.
He has since posted bail and is due in court on October 14.
The Indio Police Department declined to comment, but did confirm to the TV stations that Ramirez is on paid administrative leave.
Update 2:06 pm: The victim in the case is an adult relative who lived in the same house as Ramirez, reports The Desert Sun, which also relays graphic details of the declaration in the arrest warrant:
The victim was in bed when the suspect entered the room and lay next to her, Riverside County Sheriff’s Investigator Rebecca Smith wrote in the declaration.
The victim felt uncomfortable and moved to a couch in another room, Smith wrote. She later woke up and found Ramirez on the couch with his hand gripping her inner thigh.
“She woke up and thought ‘Oh my God, this isn’t really happening. This is not a good dream. This is a nightmare. This isn’t happening,'” Smith wrote, adding the victim viewed the suspect as a father figure.
According to the declaration, the victim “froze” as the suspect removed the woman’s clothes and raped her. At one point, he told the victim “You don’t look ‘OK,'” but later kept telling her “You’re so hot.”
The victim fled to a friend’s home, where she alerted family about the rape. She was then taken to Eisenhower Medical Center to be examined.
Ramirez’s wife washed the clothes of the victim and attempted to get her to lie to police about what happened, says the declaration.
