There is a bunch of road work going on in the city of Indio this week as crews look to upgrade roads by repaving and then re-striping them. “A total 3,600 tons of asphalt will be installed by next Friday, followed by permanent striping by the City,” said Public Works Manager James Achuff. “It will be an extraordinarily busy week.”
Here is what is going on and how it might affect your commute, according to a press release from the city:
- Monday, August 1 – Both lanes eastbound Dr. Carreon between Monroe and Arabia will be closed to through traffic 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Access to Monroe businesses and apartment complex main entrance will be available. Signal at Monroe and Dr. Carreon will be in flashing red. Please use Avenue 48 or Highway 111 for eastbound traffic.
- Tuesday, August 2 – Both directions Date Street between Calhoun and Cypress will be closed to through traffic 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use Indio Boulevard and enter your destination from the east side.
- Wednesday, August 3 – Jackson Street northbound will be restricted to one lane, Requa to Civic Center and Avenue 45 to Avenue 44. Minor delays up to 10 minutes into business and the DMV on the east side of Jackson and for contributory east side streets may occur, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both directions Wilson Street between Jackson and Oasis will have travel restrictions for up to two hours during paving operations between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please use Requa for through traffic. Smurr Street between Indio Boulevard and Miles will be closed for paver removal starting at 4 a.m. and will remain closed to Thursday at 5 p.m. Please use Towne Street.
- Thursday, August 4 – Both directions Smurr Street between Indio Boulevard and Civic Center will have lengthy travel delays of up to four hours between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please use Towne Street. Miles will be closed at Smurr Street between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please use Towne Street. Both directions Smurr Street between Requa and Highway 111 will be closed to through traffic between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please use Towne Street.
- Friday, August 5 – Both directions Granada north of Highway 111 will be closed to through traffic between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please use Clinton and Highway 111. Both directions Youngs Lane between Highway 111 and Sandals Court will be closed to through traffic between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. There will be no through traffic from Avenue 48 to Highway 111 on Youngs Lane. Please use Madison Street.
