A Joshua Tree man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after police say he vandalized a 76 gas station.
Police were called to the station by employees who said that Duke Early, 44, was vandalizing gas pumps and harassing customers, according to a news release. When deputies arrived, they say they saw Early swinging a fuel pump hose and nozzle into the pumps. Police commanded him to stop multiple times, but they say Early continued to swing the hose at the pumps.
A bean bag gun was deployed on Early, at which time he stopped swinging the hose and complied with deputy commands.
Early was arrested for investigation of felony vandalism and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail.
Damage to the pumps was valued at over $10,000.
