The iPhone 8 is due to be announced in the next few weeks. No one is sure what, exactly, all the new features will be – though we do know the camera will recognize food, so there’s that – but, thanks to the New York Times, we do have an idea of how much it will cost – and it’s a small fortune. You better start saving.
Chief among the changes for the new iPhones: refreshed versions, including a premium model priced at around $999, according to people briefed on the product, who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Yup. A thousand dollars! For a phone!!
Most likely, that will mean a $30 – $40 charge per month if you go with the two year plan from your carrier. If that is too much, Apple also plans on announcing a couple of lower cost iPhones – including an upgraded iPhone 7 in the $650 to $750 range.
No matter what you pay, it’s still a ton of dough for a phone. And for this much money, why have they not made the thing shatterproof yet?
