Man arrested for impersonating a police officer after trying to pull over real police officer

A man was arrested in Murrieta on Tuesday after police say he impersonated a police officer by outfitting his Dodge Dart with lights and a siren, then tried to pull over a real police officer.

According to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Johnnie Sellers, 21, activated his the lights and siren on his Dodge Dart while following a Sheriff’s deputy, who was driving their personal car, in Murrieta.

The deputy was, not-surprisingly, suspicious and did not pull over.  So eventually, the driver of the Dart proceeded to drive by them – but not before the deputy snapped a photo of the license plate.

Authorities tracked down the tricked-out Dart and Sellers in Hemet where he was arrested.
