A man was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after a shooting in Desert Hot Springs.

Police were called to Acoma and Cactus around 9 am for reports of shots fired, according to a Facebook post from the department.

They arrived to find an adult male suffering from a gun shot wound. The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. There was no word on the man’a condition.

The department has closed the following roads for the investigation:

• Pierson Boulevard to Cahuilla Avenue
• Palm Drive to West Drive

Police ask that the public avoids the area and finds an alternate route.
