Update: the restaurant has reopened after the health department gave it an “A” grade during an inspection Monday morning.
Manhattan in the Desert, a Palm Springs restaurant and deli, was closed this weekend by the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health.
A tipster sent us this photo of a sign greeted potential eaters alerting them to the closure and inviting them to travel east to the Palm Desert location for a free drink or desert. The note covered part of a “C” grade.

The information on the inspection was not listed publicly yet by the county, but a spokesperson with the health department told KESQ that the restaurant “had several refrigerators that were not working properly. Which means they were not holding the foods temp below 41°.”
The restaurant told the TV station that the walk-ins were repaired by 5:30 pm but it was too late to get the health department to sign off on it.
They expect to reopen on Tuesday.
