A nineteen year old man, naked and covered in blood, was arrested Monday in Victorville after he terrorized a neighborhood by chasing children, breaking into an apartment and attempted to steal 3 cars – including a sheriff’s cruiser.
Authorities believe that Daniel Anglin, 19, of San Bernardino was likely under the influence of a controlled substance when he was spotted by neighborhood residents covered in blood and wandering the streets, reports KCAL 9.
“You couldn’t even make out what he was actually saying,” witness Lydia Lopez told KCAL 9. “He was just screaming, ‘Ahhh!’ And just constantly screaming.”
Witnesses told Victor Valley News that the man was first seen chasing after children at a bus stop. He then attempted to carjack a woman’s vehicle, but a man in another car immediatly came to her aid.
Lopez recorded what transpired on her cell phone:
After attempting to carjack two vehicles (and getting kicked to the ground and to the groin by good samaritans), Anglin then ran away and broke into a nearby apartment – but, the owner of the apartment confronted him and he fled the dwelling.
Cops were called to the apartment and that is when Anglin, according to sheriff’s officials, attempted to steal their patrol vehicle.
Deputies used batons to subdue Anglin, but he was able to flee.
Authorities found him a short time later and he was taken to a nearby hospital.
“He really did look like he was more a zombie,” Lopez told KCAL 9. “He was like in a zombie state of mind.
