The Palm Springs Police Department was evacuated for several hours Wednesday after someone spotted a pretty suspicious looking device left on a a trash can. While it ended up being a child’s toy, there was another item left on the trash that needs to be discussed.
First, here is the photo that Palm Springs PD released of the suspicious thing after clearing it.

Yup. That is definitely suspicious. Easy to see why they used so much caution. But wait, what is this that is also on the trash can?
Why it’s a a half-smoked cigarette.
And while it’s not going to get a building evacuated, it doesn’t belong there. Be a good human and dispose of your cigarette butts properly.
