The porn you watch your friends watch may look very different in the near future if new rules proposed in California get approved.

The new rules proposed last week by the Division of Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) would mandate that adult film stars follow strict hygiene standards, production companies pay for medical visits and vaccines for the talent, and protective eye goggles would have to be worn for many scenes as, under the rules, “all bodily fluids shall be considered potentially infectious materials.”

Naturally, the adult film industry thinks this is unnecessary.

“These are regulations designed for medical settings, and are unworkable on an adult film set — or even a Hollywood film set,” Diane Duke, CEO of the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment said in a statement. She added the that new rules would risk “shutting down an entire industry.”

The regulations are currently being considered and a decision on them is expected sometime before March 2016.
