A man was fatally shot in an officer-involved shooting in Indio Wednesday afternoon.
The shooting happened at the Las Palmas Apartments near Las Palmas Road and Highway 111 a little before 5 pm, according to KESQ. The suspect was armed with a gun, according to police. The man died at the scene.

About an hour earlier, the man w man struck someone on the head and stole a cell phone at a Subway sandwich shop, reports The Desert Sun.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the suspect shot by police was the same person involved in the Subway incident.
