Parking your car on a particular Palm Springs road with a for sale sign has been deemed a “safety hazard” and will no longer be allowed, thanks to a new set of rules approved by the Palm Springs City Council.

People have been parking their vehicles on Canyon Sands Drive for a number of years, but won’t anymore thanks to a parking limit imposed on the street according to the Desert Sun.

The homeowners inside the nearby Canyon Sands community requested a parking limit because the parked cars “create a safety hazard” by attracting people who block the road.  Upon hearing the request, the Palm Springs Council (which is normally just too busy to deal with anything) unanimously approved a 2 hour parking limit for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Note: the newspaper hilariously pointed out that a whopping six cars and a trailer were parked there on Wednesday (they also note that a cyclist was blocked by slowly moving cars for an unknown amount of time…OMG, maybe that cyclist is still being blocked!!!).  In the video that accompanies the story, not a single person is seen on the street.

Diane Weist, Canyon Sands board president, was more direct about the real reason to get rid of the parked cars telling the newspaper, “We’ve had that used (car) parking lot for so many years. It’s just an eyesore.”

The new parking signs will cost about $1,000. The city of Palm Springs says that they are requesting that money be reimbursed by the Canyon Sands HOA. Weist said she was unaware of the request.

Just another example of how amazing the city is at keeping track of its money.
