Unleashed pit bull attacks and kills chihuahua in Palm Springs park

A chihuahua was attacked and killed by a pit bull in Palm Springs on Monday, according to police.

The pit bull, which was not on a leash, attacked the chihuahua, which was on a leash, about 1 p.m. Police were called to the scene, but the pit bull and its male owner left before deputies arrived.

The chihuahua was taken to the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, but veterinarians were not able to save the dog’s life.
