The Desert Trip 2017 rumors have begun.

Just a little over a month removed from the inaugural music festival, The Daily Mirror reports that Goldenvoice offered The Police more than $9 million to reunite for the festival’s second time out.

The group – comprised of lead vocalist Sting,  guitarist Andy Summers, and drummer Stewart Copeland – last reunited for the Grammys in February 2007, then did a a 30th anniversary tour that ended in August 2008.

Sting recently said that the band would not be reuniting, saying that the 2008 tour would be the band’s last.

“It was lovely to get what Americans call ‘closure’ because we’d never really broken up,” he told The Sun a couple of weeks ago.

Of course 9 million dollars can change a guy’s stance pretty easily.

So will the Police be a headliner at Desert Trip?  Well, maybe you can ask Sting at Agua Caliente when he plays there in February.
