Police pull over two hot air balloons in Yucaipa

Police made an unusual, I guess I will call it traffic stop?, on Tuesday in Yucaipa.

Officials say they received multiple 911 calls about a couple of hot air balloons that were possibly crashing into homes in the Chapman Heights neighborhood, according to a news release.

Deputies responded and observed a green and a blue hot air balloon flying above the golf course and nearby homes, at times coming within 5 feet of rooftops and hitting trees. Both pilots of the balloons were contacted by police who requested they land immediately.

One balloon landed in a high school baseball field while the second balloon landed in oranges groves of a private residence.

Both pilots were identified as hot air balloon enthusiasts by deputies who have forwarded a report to the Federal Aviation Administration for review of any possible FAA violations.
