Would you rather live on an olive tree farm or a golf course?
Freehold Communities

There are, by my count, a few million golf courses in the Coachella Valley and, by my count, there are a few billion – mostly old and Canadian – people who live around them. But, that could be changing. There is a developer with a new plan for Palm Springs living and, while you won’t be able to get in 18 before lunch, you will get plenty of tasty olive oil. So would you be up for it?

The Press Enterprise details Miralon, a community in North Palm Springs that will transform a golf course into 70 acres of olive trees combined with dog parks, exercise stations, firepits, community gardens, intimate lakes, 6.5 miles of hiking paths, and 1,150 single family homes, townhouses and condos that will sell from the high $300,000s up to the $700,000s.  It’s one of many agricultural neighborhoods (or “agri-hoods”) sprouting around the U.S.

“All of the homes will feature classic, clean, modern designs with flat roofs and signature elements such as deep shade canopies, light gage steel post and beams, and large windows,” Brad Shuckhart, Freeholds Communities Division president told Palm Springs Life. “Interiors will feature clean lines and modern amenities that meet the needs of today’s buyers.” Each home will also include a solar package as a standard feature.

One of the perks of living there will be a “farm-to-table lifestyle” with The Temecula Olive Oil Company harvesting and pressing the olives and an outdoor demonstration kitchen on site.

So would you be up for living on an olive farm?  And would you prefer it to a golf course?  Let’s discuss in the comments.
