Police arrested Kevin Patrick Kirkland, 56, of Rancho Cucamonga, on Tuesday in Gilbert, Ariz. Kirkland had been on administrative leave since last month.
Police say the relationship began when the female student was 16 and lasted for two years, according to the Press Enterprise:
Last month, administrators at the district contacted police regarding possible inappropriate behavior by Kirkland toward a student, officials said. A police investigation determined that the reported behavior was not criminal.
However, a new investigation was opened after school district administrators learned about additional possibly inappropriate behavior between Kirkland and a second student.
Kirkland waived extradition and and booked into the West Valley Detention Center Thursday in lieu of $2 million bail.
He faces five counts of oral copulation of a minor and one count of distributing harmful matter to a minor.
