Happy Repeal Day!
To celebrate the anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition, a couple of Coachella Valley joints are offering up some great deals on booze!
Eureka!
Eureka! in Indian Wells is serving up $5 Old Fashioneds using Templeton Rye’s Prohibition Era Whiskey. The delicious cocktail also calls for a demerara sugar cube and bitters and is garnished with a luxardo maraschino cherry and an orange peel.
The burger joint has the five dollar cocktails all day, Monday, December 5th.
Eureka! is located at 74985 Highway 111 at Cook Street.
Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse
Babe’s has its beer at half-price from 3 pm to close. You can also enjoy top-shelf liquor from 3 to 5:30pm.
Babe’s is located at the River in Rancho Mirage, 71800 Highway 111
On January 16th, 1919, America passed the 18th Amendment, which outlawed alcohol on all levels. While this lasted thirteen long years, this was the era that created some iconic whiskeys, including Al Capone’s favorite whiskey, which Templeton Rye’s Prohibition Whiskey Blend is based on.
On December 5th, 1933, the 21st Amendment was ratified, restoring one of America’s favorite past times, the ability to drink openly and freely.
This post will be updated if other local bars / restaurants add specials for today. If you know of one that should be listed, let us know about it in the comments below.
