A downtown Palm Springs bar is shutting down for 30 days after being cited twice by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The Village Pub waived their right to a hearing and accepted a 30-day suspension, reports KESQ. The bar, according to the TV station, was cited for two violations on October 22, 2016 – one for an employee battering a patron and another for a manager who was not certified by the ABC.

Village Pub Co-owner Roula Berg and General Manager Ingrid Swenson held a press conference on Tuesday (starts at the 2:15 mark below). They confirmed that the bar will be closed starting on August 24 and will use the time to “remodel, refresh, reinvent, retrain, and come back bigger and better.”

Berg and Swenson, who was not the General Manager cited, also announced that they may open for special events without liquor during the 30 day closing.
