Fresh & Easy is calling it quits.
The grocery chain announced on Wednesday that it will be liquidating all of its stores in the near future – including the two currently open in The Coachella Valley.
And while this stinks for the good people who will be out of a job soon, it is not completely unexpected. Despite the name, Fresh & Easy was rarely all that “fresh”. You could pretty much be assured that any piece of produce you bought from the store would go bad before you even got it home and 90% of the flowers on display were usually already dead.
The “easy” part was great, however. No need to wait for a chatty checker to ring you up – just do it your damn self! This was never a problem, well except when the 5 registers were chalk-full of old people that could not figure the whole thing out making you wait in line forever.
The company is said to be looking for a buyer for some stores to remain open- because clearly, after two owners have already failed with it, the third time must be the charm.
