It is back to school time in the Coachella Valley…in August...early August. Should this be a thing?

Some say yes (because of assessment tests) while others, particularly those in hot climates, say no way (because of energy costs) – which might be a tough argument locally as some educators in the Coachella Valley simply try to pretend it is not dangerously hot outside.

School should also probably start later in the day – which would undoubtedly also help out with those assessment tests schools care enough about to spend a fortune on August air conditioning – but, of course, no one ever talks about actually doing that.
