The 5 Stages Palm Springs Locals Go Through on the Year’s First 100 Degree Day

By Published On: March 28, 2015Last Updated: January 19, 2026

Living in The Coachella Valley year-round, you know that you are going to have to endure plenty of 100+ degree days (it is a desert, after all). But every year, the first day that the temperature hits the century mark, it takes a little while to fully sink it.

These are the 5 stages locals go through…

1) Shock

What? 100 degrees!! Already?!?!

2) False Confidence

You have done this before, it won’t be that bad.

3) Sadness

But wait, this just means it is the beginning of  6 months of living inside of an oven.

4) Happiness

Hold on, this means far less snowbirds on Highway 111.

5) Acceptance

Thanks Mother Nature, I will just be over here sweating for the next 6 months.

Have a great summer, everyone.
