A Thousand Palms man was arrested on Wednesday after police say he fired a gun at a moving car in Indio – with one shot striking a 14-year-old girl in the head.
According to Indio Police, the suspect fired multiple rounds at a moving car in the area of John Nobles Avenue and Monroe Street about 10 pm on Sunday, May 20. Inside the vehicle were at least five minors, including a 14-year-old girl who suffered a single gunshot wound to her head.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

After an investigation, police identified the suspect was identified as Vicente Manuel Reyes, 22, of Thousand Palms. Reyes was found to be on active Parole for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and has several gang contacts out of Indio, according to police.
Detectives located Reyes in Cathedral City on Thursday and he was taken into custody without incident. he was booked into the Indio Jail on 6 counts of Attempt Murder, several counts of Child Abuse and Child Endangerment, and Violation of Parole.
