Two lost hikers rescued from Desert Hot Springs trail

Two hikers were rescued Thursday night after becoming lost on a Desert Hot Springs hiking trail.

Riverside County Sheriff were called to the Bernardo Trail Head about 9:13 pm, according to a news release. A 23-year-old male and a 20-year-old female reported being lost along the Bernardo Trail Head with a no water and no warm clothes.

Members of the Riverside County Desert Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded to the scene to assist in locating the lost hikers. Rescue teams climbed the Bernardo Trail Head and located the two hikers, who were not injured. The hikers were then escorted to safety.

In the press release, The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public to “consider taking plenty of water, food, map, and a mobile charging port in order to maintain a charged cell phone. Hikers should also be aware of the weather report and take appropriate clothing for the conditions.”
