Two teens arrested for downtown Palm Springs shooting

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting of two people in downtown Palm Springs.

19-year-old Sandra V. Herrera, of Desert Hot Springs, and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody, reports the Desert Sun. Herrera was identified by police as the alleged shooter. There was no comment as to the role of the juvenile. Both suspects had possible gang connections.

Herrera is charged with attempted murder and possession of an unregistered firearm, according to a news release from the Palm Springs Police Department. The 17-year-old is charged with attempted murder.

The two victims men were shot about 9:45 pm in a parking lot near Bit of Country and Wang’s in the Desert on Indian Canyon Drive, according to KESQ.

One of the victims was rushed to the hospital.  The other was tended to by paramedics at the scene.

The downtown area hosted VillageFest Thursday, as it does every week.
