Wayne Newton, a.k.a. Mr. Las Vegas, is getting a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
The entertainer will receive the 426th Star on the Walk of the Stars Palm Springs in a ceremony on Friday, November 9 at 1 pm, according to a news release from the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. The star will be located at 100 S. Palm Canyon Drive.
“I am thrilled to be honored with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars! The iconic and beautiful city of Palm Springs has such legendary Hollywood history and to be included in the company of such entertainment luminaries as Elvis, Frank, and Marilyn, among so many others, is indeed exciting! This is a prestigious honor that I will truly cherish the rest of my life and thank everyone for the unanimous vote!” Wayne Newton said in the presser. “I look forward to seeing everyone there on Nov. 9th.”
Newton is the first honoree announced since the city handed over the Walk of Stars to the Chamber of Commerce after many in the community felt that the stars were more pay-to-play than people who should actually be honored.
The ceremony will be open to the public.
