For those who were planning on rooting on hometown hero Randy Caballero Saturday night before the Canelo vs Cotto fight, there is some pretty shocking news: the fight is not happening.
Via The Desert Sun:
A shocking development at the weigh-in for Coachella boxer Randy Caballero’s Saturday night fight in Las Vegas against Lee Haskins as Caballero fails to make weight and the fight is called off.
Caballero weighed in at 123.5 pounds for the 118-pound fight. The boxing commission deemed that foo far over the limit for them to even allow Caballero to try to lose it in one hour.
Caballero will vacate his IBF World title.
Eek.
Update 3:45 p.m.: Maybe the fight will still go on?
Spoke to Oscar De La Hoya and he says he will talk to Lee Haskins' team about still fighting Randy Caballero. #CaneloCotto
