Starbucks, which plans to solve all of its racism issues by closing down for half a day, is back in the news as a California customer says the coffee chain wrote a slur on his cup.
A guy by the name of Pedro (he asked that his last name not be released) ordered a couple of cups at a Starbucks in La Cañada Flintridge and received both with the word “beaner” on the cup where one would normally find their name.
One of our cooks went in to @Starbucks on Gould & Foothill this morning in La Canada & out of all the names they can put on his cup they decide to put “beaner.” We called & complained & their excuse was they couldn’t understand him. Regardless; there are MANY names you can put pic.twitter.com/RBeCdw5cmq

“It’s something racist used to offend Latinos,” Pedro said in the interview with Telemundo 52.
Pedro says Starbucks offered a $50 gift card after the incident – which he called an insult.
Not sure how Starbucks is going to fix what is clearly a ton of issues in their stores – but, while they try to figure it out, what do you say we all just visit local, independant coffee shops for a while?
