A Yucca Valley man was arrested on Saturday after a standoff with police following an alleged assault of an elderly man that he thought his girlfriend was cheating on him with.
Police were called to Castro Road about 7:41 pm for reports of a fight, according to a news release. Investigators learned Lucas Mageno, 48, arrived at Loren Marken’s residence looking for his girlfriend who was there doing work at the residence.
Mageno believed she was cheating on him with the 72-year-old Marken. According to police, Mageno proceeded to assault Marken, causing great bodily injury. Lucas then fled the scene.
Mageno was located at a home on Kickapoo Trail in Yucca Valley where he barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to come outside. After several hours, officials entered the residence and took Magino into custody without incident.
He was booked for criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon.
There was no word on the condition of Marken.
