Video: the beauty of the dying Salton Sea

Filmmaker Frank Tabouring’s “Useless Sea” is a short video showing both the beauty and the decay of the Satlton Sea.

The Salton Sea was created due to an accident by engineers in 1905. At first, the Sea was a place where people gathered for recreation – but has since become an area known best for dead fish and a rotten egg smell. Scientists believe that the worst is yet to come with a major dust problem for the surrounding areas, including the Coachella Valley.

And while the area is full of many issues that need to be addressed, Tabouring does show just how beautiful The Salton Sea can be.
