The cross above Palm Desert which, and this may surprise you, is a cross that sits on a hill overlooking Palm Desert, has not been lighting up for the past week or so – fitting seeing as how everything is basically terrible now.

Here is what the cross normally looks like:

Cross hike Friday (tomorrow) morning 8:30 am! Who is meeting us there!!!!????

But, as KESQ reports, the cross has not been lighting up since the recent storms started moving through:

According to Rev. Lane Hensley of St. Margaret’s Church in Palm Desert, the cross hasn’t been lit for about a week now due to some electrical problems. Hensley said the problem began when the storms first moved into the valley.

An electrician is scheduled to determine the problem on Thursday, with hopes of getting the hiking cross shining bright once again, Hensley said.

Even though the cross is currently not lighting up, you can still do the hike to it – which is about a 2.5 miles, according to All Trails.

While you wait for the lights to come back on, maybe head up and check out the giant yin-yang thing nearby it instead.

Artsy fartsy
